Would also like to know what dvd is best compatible, please make simple answers as I am not exactly a pro.(this thingy goes where??)

They will work together, but I would caution you about getting a Visio. They aren't the best tv's and if you are going to invest a couple of thousands of dollars, get a good product.
I know they can be a good price, but the quality isn't good.
Just something to consider.

must admit to never hearing of the make "visio"-i live in the uk you see. but assuming the tv has the relevant outputs there is no reason why the onkyo (which i have heard of-good make) shouldn't work with the tv. on the dvd side-have a look in the tv's manual can it support proggresive scan-is it hd ready??-if it can then i would go for a panasonic (one of the dmr range) with hdmi output (upscales to 1080i/p) these players are the mutts nuts.
They should as long as the plasma TV has the connectors needed for the surround sound modes that you want.
